Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne was the right destination for me and my family during my daughter’s school break as we wanted an easy getaway to a warm weather destination within the United States. The Miami Airport is easily accessible from any of the New York Airports and if none of those flight options work for you, you can always fly into Fort Lauderdale airport, only an hour from the property.
We reserved a One Bedroom Executive Ocean View Suite connecting to an Ocean View Room with 2 double beds for my daughter and her friend. With being a Ritz STAR Advisor early-check (subject to availability) is a perk for myself and my clients.
We were so happy to have the perk granted to us to refresh after the travel day and change into beach attire to start off our vacation!
If you know me, you know I always like to dine on property for dinner the first night. We ate at Cantina Beach Restaurant on property and it was an easy casual meal that we wanted.
The rest of the days we spent enjoying the downtown area of Miami dining out at local restaurants, and of course lounging at the beach and pool.
How I like to spend my days on vacation
This vacation was also my birthday celebration! We rented a beautiful 80 foot yacht on Friday and had a fabulous time. We played around on the Jet Skis, drank some champagne and enjoyed the day. We ended with dinner at Seaspice which is ideal for anyone on their yacht day as the yacht can pull up dockside to enter the restaurant.
My last day on property was my actual birthday. We decided to rent one of the Supreme Pool Cabanas by the Adult-Only Pool. Our cabana attendant for the day really embodied the Ritz Carlton level of excellent service you expect to receive at a 5 star luxury resort. We enjoyed all of our amenities included in the Cabana such as snacks, sunscreens, lotions, champagne, fruit platter and more! We had 4 lounge chairs in the sun area and in the covered area we had a sectional sofa with a fan perfect for alternating when the Florida heat hits.
I love combining time at the resort and time exploring the destination during my vacation.
My Favorite Miami Restaurants
During my time at Key Biscayne I really wanted to dine and try out different and popular restaurants in Miami as Miami is known more for their dining than Key Bisayne. I loved Hillstone, Glass and Vine, Matador, Seaspice, and The Surf Club Restaurant.
One evening we dined at Kiki on the River. I was not impressed with the meal but I do want to note it has a fun vibe so I really would save this restaurant if you are looking for a trendy nightlife spot. This is the place to be seen.
Hillstone Restaurant was great for a steakhouse. Glass and Vine had such a cute outdoorsy area with trees lit up and on certain nights they have live music. Matador is by Jean-Georges, my absolute favorite chef. I always love dining at his restaurants; this one was no exception. Seaspice is actually located next to Kiki on The River. Their favorite menu item of mine is the Sea Salt Crusted Market Fish because it reminds me of dining on the Amalfi Coast. It is important to note if you want to order this entree it takes about 2 hours from the time you order until serving. I recommend calling ahead of time to start your order or enjoy cocktails and appetizers just knowing you will have a good amount of wait time if you choose this as your main entree. Thomas Keller Surf Club Restaurant was excellent and for sure a MUST if you are in the area. I highly recommend arriving at least an hour early and have a drink at Lido bar at Four Seasons Surfside because it is an absolutely stunning ambiance.
Is Florida and Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne COVID safe?!
Throughout the property I felt very safe and comfortable. Face masks were worn by guests and staff in all public areas. There were touchless hand sanitizer dispensers available throughout the resort. In the spa area the locker rooms, saunas, steam room and whirlpool are closed. You are required to wear a mask during your massage when you are lying on your back but when you are turned over on your stomach you can take it off. The therapist keeps their mask on the entire time during the service. While shopping through the Miami area we wore our masks and in the shops we were encouraged to use hand sanitizer before browsing.
